In 2001, Bob's step-daughter Donna Windsor is involved in the hit and run of their headmaster, Jean Strickland. Donna and the other teens involved confess to their part in the hit and run and receive community service, except for Donna's crush, Marc, who is arrested.
In 2003, Bob is shocked to discover that the women his friend Terry Woods has brought back from his holiday, is in fact his daughter - Dawn. They marry shortly after, and later that year, Bob becomes a grandfather to TJ Woods.
2004 brings divorces, as Dawn splits up with Terry. Viv and Bob also divorce after constant arguing.
In 2005, Paddy Kirk cheats on wife Emily with Viv, leaving Bob and Emily's former father-in-law, Zak outraged. But later in the year, Bob and Viv reconcille and announce their engagement (at the same time as Donna her fiancee Marlon Dingle) on the 23rd August.
2006 starts off with Bob and Marlon's joint stag-do, but Bob goes missing, but returns to arrive in time for his second wedding. He is surprised when he gets a smack in the face by one of the guests, his son Jamie Hope. In April, Dawn is arrested for benefit fraud, but tragedy strikes when Dawn is killed in the King's River Showhome explosion on the 13th of July. On the day of Dawn's funeral, Viv Hope discovers she is pregnant after she faints.
Dawn's death leaves Bob and her brother Jamie seeking revenge. On the 20th of November, Bob tries to run over Tom King. On the 18th of December, Jamie and Bob set alight the King's River billboard. On Christmas Day, Tom King is killed on his wedding day when he is pushed out of his second-story window by an unknown assailant. Thinking Jamie killed him, Bob confesses to the murder, but it turns out to be Carl King who did it in a fit of rage.
