Plot[]

Mandy is furious that Paddy stood her up and goes round to Betty's to confront him. Terry tells her he isn’t in and should go to the surgery. Betty was disappointed that her best lodger is leaving and accuses Zoe of being a true Tate when she turns up to clean Zoe's cottage. Paddy apologises for Betty's behaviour and doesn’t blame Zoe. Whilst Paddy shares a farewell drink with Biff and Linda in the Woolpack, Alan admits he was sorry to see one of his best customers go but when asked if Mandy was around, Alan replies that she had called in sick. Paddy finds Mandy at the park later and apologises for standing her up, but she is unwilling to listen and threatens to break his fingers unless he leaves her alone. Nevertheless, when he reveals why he had not met her at the wine bar she is devastated, begging him to stay. Paddy replies that he needs to work and had to leave immediately for a new post as a locum in Cumbria. He says he wouldn't forget Mandy and, after a kiss, drives away, leaving Mandy in tears. Later, in the Woolpack, Mandy furiously confronts Zoe, outraged that she had sacked Paddy, but stops short of hitting her. Tony defuses the tension and offers both Zoe and Mandy a drink. Rachel continues to be anxious about the "Malarney" account and offers to relieve Steve from looking at the client statements so he won't discover what happened. He seems pleased that she is so keen and leaves for Home Farm. Later, Rachel comes to Home Farm and is delighted when Chris tells her he had come to some decisions about his financial situation. She is, however, horrified when he tells her he was about to declare himself bankrupt because nobody is prepared to help him. Chris snaps at Steve for breaking up his family and snidely tells Rachel that the "moneyman" could solve everybody's problems. In the office, Steve explains to Rachel the financial implications of Chris declaring himself bankrupt but can't understand her problem because she has custody of Joseph. She tells him that despite what he obviously thought she doesn't want to bleed Chris dry. Steve tells her not to worry because she would always have a job with him before telling her to knock off early and he would have a look at the client statements when he gets home. Rachel insists that she would do them, but Steve tells her it isn't necessary. On her way out, Rachel bumps into Zoe and apologises for her behaviour in the wine bar. Zoe insists her and Steve were just talking business before again offering Rachel furniture from Home Farm, which she accepts. Biff finally takes his old job back at Home Farm where Steve praises his excellent past record with the company. When Steve asks Biff if he and Linda wants their old cottage back, Chris sleazily insists that it would be good for them to be where he could keep an eye on them both. Biff replies that they are fine living at the Glovers, but Steve, who is unaware of the one-upmanship going on, insists that Biff think about it, as it is good to have staff on hand. Over a meal at the wine bar, Linda admits that their presence at the Glovers had helped Jan get over Dave's death but argued that it would be nice to have their own place again, where they could start a family. Emma wakes to find Tony feeding Geri, just as he had done throughout the night. She thanks him for letting the baby come home before apologising for not getting up in the night, saying that she hadn't heard her, which seems to amuse Charlie because even she had heard Geri crying because the walls are paper-thin. Tony tells Charlie the solution to that was that she go house-hunting with him. Andy looks on as Jack, Sarah and Victoria wave Robert off on his football tour, seemingly reflective. Jack and Sarah go to a dispersal sale where they bump into Tony and Charlie. Tony tells Jack that he is still looking for a place to live and Jack seems only too pleased to give him his phone number, telling him that he was welcome to come and have a look. Later, over a drink in the Woolpack, Sarah tells Jack that he seems to have made his mind up about the farm and he replies that they could put an offer in at the farm they saw today instead as it was far more suitable and needed less doing to it. Dee continues to talk to Eric about preparations for the wedding. Earlier, when asked, Rachel had agreed to be a witness at the wedding, which prompted Dee to ask Eric if he had chosen a best man yet. When he replies he hadn't, Dee secretly goes to ask Alan if he would do the honours but is taken aback when he tells her he won't do it. Later, in the Woolpack, Eric touts for business for the Eastern evening at the wine bar much to Alan's annoyance, who points out it was on a par with his fiancé coming into the pub touting for a best man. Eric is left in no uncertainty as to the reasons why Alan would not take the job and replies that the feelings were mutual before chastising Dee for embarrassing him and asking Alan in the first place. Kathy and Betty realise that each other knew about Biff and the possibility he may have Huntington's Disease. They are both in agreement that Linda had a right to know but Kathy seems unsupportive at Betty's idea to invite Biff and Linda for tea in the hope he may feel able to open up to her in the company of friends. Vic arrives back from Stockport, but much to Donna's disappointment, he was been unable to track Kelly and Tom down. Later, when Vic and Viv are alone together, Vic tells her all about where he had been and what he had tried to do to find Kelly. Viv is sympathetic when Vic accuses himself of being a terrible parent. The two share a kiss when Vic admits that even though he had only been away for one night, it reminded him of how lonely he had been without Viv.
