As Jimmy begins work on the farm, Amos thinks the Sugdens should be told about his prison record. Henry suggests that he and Amos ask Dolly to return to The Woolpack for the summer trade. Susan warns Meg about Jimmy's spell in prison, saying it took place three years ago. She admits that Jimmy wasn't made his redundant from his job in Bradford, but walked out as they suspected he'd stolen some equipment which had gone missing. They're surprised when they tell Seth the news and discover he already knew after seeing it in the paper at the time. Dolly passes the news onto Susan that The Woolpack are looking for a barmaid for their summer trade, thinking it might be suitable. Susan tells her she's not sure it would be for her as she thinks she's pregnant and quickly adds that Jimmy doesn't know yet. Jimmy worries about the news spreading around the village when he finds out that Susan has told his parents about his prison spell. Dolly gets upset as she fears her age may be a factor of her being unable to fall pregnant and may cause complications if she eventually does fall pregnant.
