New Zealand is a country comprising of two main landmasses, the North and South Islands (as well as a few islands), and is situated in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, and is south-east of Australia.
Emmerdale history[]
At some unspecified time, Lawrence White's brother Henry White emigrated to New Zealand.
- February 1973 - Marian Wilks moves to New Zealand after meeting a man on a cruise.
- March/April 1974 - Marian's father Henry Wilks goes to New Zealand to visit her after getting the news that she is engaged, however, just after he sets off Marian sends a telegram informing him that she has broken off her engagement. Henry returns to Beckindale a few days later.
- June 1991 - Zoe Tate gets a job in New Zealand, leaving Beckindale for a time.
- December 1992 - With her contract now over, Zoe Tate returns to the village.
- November 1997 - Kim Tate goes to New Zealand for a month due to urgent business.
- September 2002 - Elsie Bradshaw arrives in the village from New Zealand for her sister Edith Weatherall's funeral but she soon returns to New Zealand again.
- September 2005 - After being acquitted of attempted murder, Zoe Tate blows up Home Farm with the help of Callum Rennie, before escaping to New Zealand with daughter Jean and nephew Joseph.
- July 2012 - Paddy Kirk is offered a job in New Zealand, and plans to move there with Rhona and Leo Goskirk, despite the lack of permission from Leo's father, Marlon Dingle.
- September 2012 - As Paddy, Rhona and Leo prepare to leave, Paddy and Marlon get into a fight, which escalates and the pair are arrested. Rhona and Leo leave for New Zealand, with Paddy planning to join them later, but when he is given community service, he is forced to stay in the country.
- October 2012 - Rhona and Leo Goskirk return from New Zealand.
