Robert Carr was a newsagent who worked alongside Mr Bates. He was also a friend of John Haywood. In 1914, Robert enlisted and was recruited as a private to fight in World War I. He was discharged from the war, suffering with shell shock, and his mother looked after him. However, she died from flu in 1918.
Robert was mentioned to have been killed in Christmas at Emmerdale, but mentioned to be alive in Spring Comes to Emmerdale.
