Skin met Leyla Harding when she was out in Hotten for the night with her boyfriend David Metcalfe. David and Leyla got too drunk to drive, so Skin drove them back to Emmerdale. Skin went to Leyla's house and tried to make a pass at her, but she turned him down. The next day, Skin stole some valuables from the house. Pearl Ladderbanks saw him and David stopped him. Skin was then arrested.
